We (Satoko and I) left Eynsham (a village near Oxford) in the early morning of 12th for Heathrow airport. Alister kindly drop us off there. Because the master of the White Hart (the accomodation) had not waken up at the time of our departure, we could not say goodbye to her. Maybe we sould greet her through e-mail.

St. Andrews is a very pretty town with many historic buildings of the University of St. Andrews. Gatty Marine Laboratory is just out of the downtown, still within walking distance, facing to the sea. Satoko's accomodation (a flat) is at Woodburn Place and very close to the Lab.

During our stay for the last two-three days here, we have enjoyed walking around the city, shopping of souvenirs and gifts, and eating up at a Scotish lunch (Scotch broth, baked potato and others).
Yesterday and today, we have started to discuss and prepare Satoko's experiments. Dr. Val Smith lab is rather quiet with only a few full-time students and visitors. Sigmond, a visitting student from Norway, is kind enough to help us in the lab. I hope that he continue to be helpful for setting up of her experiments until the day of his return to Norway (the end of January).

Because of a strict control of any internet connection here, I cannot connect my own MacBook and still have some difficulty in using Japanese in a local PC. Therefore, today's diary is in English.
